At the beginning of the week, Milan looked in command of the situation with the Bologna hitman, yet the situation has turned over a dispute on the commission due for agent Kia Joorabchian.

Now the Red Devils are in pole position to sign a player who will become offensive support for Rasmus Hojlund.

According to HITC, Zirkzee wants to know how he will fit into the club’s plans before committing to a move. That is more important to the Dutchman than any financial guarantees.

Man Utd face competition from Arsenal and Juventus for the former Bayern man.

Meanwhile, in an interview Corriere della Serra, he has explained what he feels is his best quality.

“Without a doubt, the gift is the technique: it is the way of showing everyone my essence. You say I’m spectacular? Well, I’m Dutch: this is the most correct definition,” he said.

Greenwood heading back to Getafe

After weeks of uncertainty, it appears that Mason Greenwood will move back to Getafe for next season.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Angel Torres, the president of the Spanish club, explained: “We have 15 players on the staff plus Greenwood, for whom we hope to get good news soon and that he will stay for another year.

“As the press says, there are many different offers and we will accept what Manchester United say.

“It looks like he’ll continue here for another year. Every day there are more possibilities but you have to be cautious.”

Greenwood had previously been linked with the likes of Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Lazio.

Ten Hag in hot water

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is in hot water with the club after revealing details of his meeting with the club in Ibiza in an interview with the Dutch media, according to The Sun.

Ten Hag revealed that the club had already spoken to Thomas Tuchel before he accepted the job.

Nevertheless, United still want the Dutchman to sign a new three-year deal.

United ‘already behind’ on transfer plans

Manchester United believe that they are “already behind” their rivals when it comes to their transfer plans, ESPN reports.

It reports: “Against the backdrop of uncertainty surrounding the manager, sources have told ESPN that there is a feeling among agents and intermediaries that United are already behind with their summer transfer business compared with other clubs.

“United have denied that's the case, although there is an acceptance that recruitment will not be ‘up to full speed’ until Dan Ashworth is in place as sporting director. Ashworth has been on gardening leave from Newcastle United since February, with no end to the stand-off over compensation for his recruitment in sight.”

Branthwaite blow

United’s hopes of landing Jarrad Branthwaite have taken a blow with the news that Everton are close to selling Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Newcastle.

The Old Trafford side had hoped that a deal could be struck because the Toffees needed to make sales ahead of 30 June to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), yet if they sell Calvert-Lewin this will likely not be the case.

Man Utd would have to match Everton’s enormous €83m (£70m) asking price.

David interest

Sky Sports reports that Lille striker Jonathan David is a target for Man Utd.

The Canada international, though, is unlikely to be easy to sign after he netted 19 goals in 34 Ligue 1 games last term.

Tottenham are also tracking the hitman, who is out of contract next summer.
