Guehi, 23, has been heavily linked with a Selhurst Park exit following significant transfer interest from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.

The former Chelsea academy star shone during England’s win over Serbia on Sunday night, with his performance drawing praise from the Three Lions’ match-winner Jude Bellingham.

When asked about Guehi, the Real Madrid superstar told ITV: “[He was] brilliant. He picked the lines amazingly.

“He played against two, for me, really good centre-forwards at this level, [Dusan] Vlahovic and [Aleksandar] Mitrovic, I think, two really, really tricky customers and he was unbelievable.

“It helps a lot when you have [John] Stonesy beside him, one of the best around but yeah, I thought he was fantastic.”

What has Anthony Gordon said?

Newcastle winger Gordon has now become the latest England star to commend Guehi.

The 23-year-old told TalkSPORT: “He’s top, he’s such a good player and I was glad the nation got to see him shine on that stage because he’s such a lovely guy and he deserves what’s coming to him.

“I thought he was unbelievable in that game [vs Serbia] considering his height compared to the strikers they had on.

“He won every header, he was aggressive, intercepting loads and his main strength is composure on the ball, he’s like a midfielder.

“So him and Stonesy at the back, it's a great partnership to control a game.”

When asked whether he would want Guehi to join him at St James’ Park, Gordon replied: “I haven’t actually seen the Newcastle links, but it goes without saying I’d absolutely love him to come because he’s a top player and he’d make us a better team.”

Guehi has two years left on his current Crystal Palace contract, while the Eagles have reportedly set their asking price at €77 million (£65m).
