EXCLUSIVE: Tottenham ready to launch £40m Toney bid
Tottenham are readying a bid for Brentford striker Ivan Toney, FootballTransfers can exclusively reveal.
Sources have indicated that Spurs are preparing a package of personal terms for the forward, who has made the cut for Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024.
Ange Postecoglou’s outfit are now gearing up to make the Bees an offer of £40 million for Toney, who scored four goals in 17 Premier League games after returning from a suspension that prevented him from featuring in the first half of the season.

Tottenham have long been on the lookout for a centre-forward to replace Harry Kane, who moved to Bayern Munich in 2023.
FootballTransfers exclusively revealed the news that Spurs were eyeing Toney as a candidate for the role last July, and now they are braced to revisit the deal in what will be seen as a cut-price move.
Toney had initially had an asking price of £100m put on his head by Brentford, who were eager to stave off the potential advances of the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal during the January transfer window.

The Bees were successful in doing this, but as the 28-year-old only has a year left on his deal, they have had to take a pragmatic approach this summer else face the prospect of losing their most valuable asset on a free transfer in 12 months.
As such, their transfer demands for Toney have dropped, though it appears unlikely that they will accept Tottenham’s opening bid for the striker this early in the window.
Nevertheless, with the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal now apparently cool on the prospect of signing the England striker, there is a window of opportunity for Postecoglou’s side to grab a real transfer bargain to kickstart their summer spending.
Tottenham are also thought to be advancing on a deal for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, as reported by FootballTransfers in April.
