Arsenal are set to send Albert Sambi Lokonga on loan to Sevilla with an option to buy for just €12 million.

The Belgian midfielder spent last season on loan at Luton Town and he impressed at Kenilworth Road, despite the Hatters’ relegation back to the Championship.

However, a deal is now in place for Lokonga to leave Arsenal on loan yet again, with the 24-year-old on the verge of joining Sevilla, as per Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein.

In addition, Sevilla have included a €12m option to buy clause in their loan deal for the former Anderlecht star.

Arsenal will have a 25% sell-on clause if Sevilla sign Lokonga permanently, but many Gunners fans are frustrated by his exit for such a low fee.

The north London club haven’t sold a player for over €30m since Alex Iwobi’s move to Everton in 2019, while they have never earned more than €40m from a single sale in their history.

While Lokonga may not have broken either record, this summer alone has seen Manchester City earn €22.5m for Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Chelsea sell Omari Hutchinson for an initial €23.5m.

One Arsenal fan even posted on X: “If Lokonga was on Manchester City or Liverpool's books, there's simply no way he's leaving for just £10m, especially after two really good Premier League loans at Crystal Palace and Luton Town. Arsenal keep getting robbed in broad daylight and I fear it will never change.”

Albert Sambi Lokonga to leave Arsenal

In May, Lokonga even admitted to Belgian outlet VOO Sport: “I think that [my time at Arsenal] is slowly coming to an end.

“I had a discussion with the club and what was said is that the best solution for me was to leave. I have a one-year contract plus a one-year option, so now it's up to the club and my agent to find the best solution.”

He is set to leave Arsenal having made only 39 appearances for the club.
