The Arsenal academy product appears to be on his way out this summer after failing to establish himself as a regular fixture in Mikel Arteta's side. The 24-year-old only made 24 appearances for the Gunners last season, primarily as a substitute.

With the player understood to be keen on first-team football and Arsenal trying to raise some 'pure profit' from shifting Hale End products, Nelson has long been tipped for a transfer this window.

Despite his lack of senior football in recent years, Nelson has suitors in the Premier League. Though the winger has failed to establish himself at the Emirates, the consensus is that he remains a capable player for the English top flight.

West Ham have been heavily linked with Nelson and this tallies with FootballTransfers information. Now, Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed the Hammers' interest.

Romano on Nelson

Speaking to CaughtOffside, Romano insisted that West Ham are indeed keen but that a deal is not as close as some have made it out to be. “West Ham have been busy in the current transfer window and are still working as usual on several deals, including for a new striker and one more centre-back.”

“It’s not ‘close’ yet but for sure Reiss Nelson is expected to leave Arsenal this summer and he’s one of the names on West Ham’s list. They like him, but nothing is imminent yet as [it is] still at the initial stages.”

West Ham have already spent €70.5 million on Max Kilman and Luis Guilherme this summer and, as mentioned by Romano, remain keen on adding several more players. The Hammers have been linked with more than €140 million worth of talent in recent days amid interest in the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Alexander Sorloth, Jhon Duran and Jean-Clair Todibo.
