Arsenal's pursuit of Xavi Simons is coming to an end, and it looks as though it will be unsuccessful, with the Dutchman agreeing personal terms with Bayern Munich, according to German media.

The PSG attacker appears to have made his decision. Despite insisting that he will only choose his next club after Euro 2024, the Dutch star has now agreed personal terms with Bayern, according to Sky Germany.

Bavarian director Max Eberl is pushing hard to secure the 21-year-old's signature, having already signed him for RB Leipzig last summer. The Red Bulls, of course, are themselves heavily trying to woo their former loanee into extending his stay in Saxony's largest city.

However, it looks as though their endeavours will be unsuccessful, with Bayern now in formal negotiations with PSG over the structure of a potential deal. The Ligue 1 champions insist that they will not sell Simons this summer, but they are willing to sanction another loan.

It remains to be seen whether Bayern can manage to secure a purchase option. If they do, it certainly won't be for a trifling sum, with previous reports speaking of a fee in the region of €60 million to €70m.

Simons to stay in Germany

Simons is one of Europe's most in-demand commodities and now it looks as though he will remain in the Bundesliga after tearing up the division on loan at Leipzig last term. Simons is coming off a 10-goal, 15-assist season with the Red Bulls.

Off the back of this impressive campaign, the Dutch wonderkid attracted suitors at Europe's biggest clubs. Barcelona were keen to bring their former La Masia product back to the club, but their financial difficulties and poor relationship with PSG made a deal impossible.

According to French media, Simons could pocket up to €12m at Bayern next season. Additionally, Arsenal were said to be interested in the attacker, with the two Manchester giants also tentatively linked, but it always appeared unlikely that any of them would have agreed to merely a loan.
