PSG closing in on a deal to sign Desire Doue is set to kick off an almighty transfer domino in Germany.

The Parisians have launched an eye-watering €60 million offer for the 19-year-old Stade Rennais winger, matching their Ligue 1 counterparts' valuation. Bayern Munich too are in the race, though their highest bid has thus far only clocked in at €55m.

A final decision from Rennes and the player still needs to be made, but it is looking increasingly likely that he will be heading to Paris. This means that Bayern, still keen on bolstering their attacking options, will have to target a different player.

The German giants, however, face the problem that Doue is set to become the second target they will miss out on. Their top priority has been the signing of Xavi Simons, who will leave PSG on loan this summer.

They are still trying their hardest to secure the Dutchman's signature, but Fabrizio Romano revealed on Tuesday that he is leaning towards returning to RB Leipzig for another season.

Olmo to get his big move

This, in conjunction with the Doue news, means that Bayern will now have to activate their Plan C and the player in question is Dani Olmo. Sky Germany previously revealed that the Spaniard was the Bavarians' contingency plan in the event that they were to miss out on Simons and Doue.

While not confirmed yet, it appears to be only a matter of time until Bayern shift their focus to the RB Leipzig star. Olmo's €60m release clause expired last week, but the Saxons, knowing that he wants to move, will let him walk for a fee in that same ballpark.

Negotiations won't be easy, however, with Leipzig surely not thrilled at the prospect of losing another key player to Bayern. Additionally, the €60m fee will only scratch the surface, with his wages and agent commissions expected to take the full financial outlay on him to north of €100m.

This is a lot of money for a player who is quite injury-prone and the main reason why clubs refrained from triggering his release clause before its expiration. Olmo has admirers at Man Utd, Man City and Barcelona, but he now looks destined for a blockbuster move to Munich - despite Uli Hoeneß's recent assertion that Bayern don't have a "money sh*tter."
