Romano confirms Chelsea's 'initial approach' for SEVENTH summer signing
Chelsea have made an “initial approach” for Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Jorgensen, 22, made 37 appearances in all competitions last season and he is reportedly open to joining the west London club.
Chelsea are actively pursuing a new goalkeeper ahead of the 2024-25 campaign and have identified Jorgensen as a legitimate option.

The Blues have now made an initial approach for the Villarreal goalkeeper and talks have started on the player’s side, according to Romano.
Jorgensen is keen on the move, but a proposed deal is still in the early stages and he is one of four names reportedly under consideration at Stamford Bridge.
It comes after news that Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen could become an option following his excellent campaign under Maresca last year.

Jorgensen has five years left on his current contract at Villarreal, having signed an extension in June, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €21.9 million.
Chelsea have already signed six new players so far this summer as they prepare for Maresca’s first season in charge.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Omari Kellyman, Renato Veiga, Caleb Wiley, Marc Guiu and Tosin Adarabioyo have all joined the club, while Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino is expected to sign for Chelsea before the transfer window shuts.
Jorgensen would become the fourth goalkeeper to join Chelsea since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took charge in 2022, following the arrivals of Gabriel Slonina, Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic.
Chelsea want a new goalkeeper
New Chelsea head coach Maresca is the driving force behind the Blues’ pursuit for a new goalkeeper, FootballTransfers can reveal.
The club had decided against pursuing a shot-stopper, but they are now open to signing a new goalkeeper after offering Petrovic to Italian club Genoa.
The 24-year-old could yet stay at Stamford Bridge, but options are being discussed internally after the first two weeks of training under Maresca.
We understand that Jorgensen and Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili are both admired.
