He had made only two first-team appearances for the Stamford Bridge club.

Arsenal" target="_blank">Arsenal, meanwhile, stand to gain financially from Hutchinson’s move to Portman Road.

Chelsea get good value for Hutchinson

Hutchinson has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €6.7m, but this has risen sharply since the beginning of the year. Back in January, the versatile attacker was worth just €2.6m, and Ipswich will expect this figure to jump once more as he gains significant Premier League experience.

According to data analytics firm SciSports, he was one of the leading wingers in the Championship last season, excelling particularly in his dribbling, crossing and defensive positioning.

The Tractor Boys, though, will need Hutchinson to step up again if they are to survive in the Premier League, with the odds stacked against them going into the new campaign.

He becomes Chelsea’s third major sale of the summer after Ian Maatsen to Aston Villa and Lewis Hall to Newcastle. The deal also takes the Blues over the €100m mark in terms of transfer fees received this off season.
