Romano ‘won’t exclude anything’ on Osimhen

Fabrizio Romano says that Chelsea are keeping the door to a transfer for Victor Osimhen open – even if it does not currently look possible that the Nigeria forward will move to Stamford Bridge.

Confirming on YouTube that PSG’s move for the 25-year-old is stymied, the football transfer news reporter said: “Between Chelsea and Osimhen, the message is clear. Nothing is happening if the price is the release clause and the salary is the same as he has at Napoli, €12m at Napoli.

“If this package is reviewed and if the deal with PSG collapses, we can’t exclude anything in the month of August. There’s nothing advanced, there’s nothing concrete, but it could remain one of the options, also because Napoli and Chelsea will discuss Lukaku.”

Indeed, Lukaku will be crucial, with Romano also revealing that Napoli have now opened up to the possibility of a swap deal. However, Chelsea's position remains that they will only make a move for Osimhen at the right price.

FABRIZIO ROMANO TRANSFER NEWS: Mazraoui HOLD UP, Sancho DEAL, Osimhen message CLEAR

Jorgensen only Maresca’s second choice?

Chelsea are poised to complete a deal for Filip Jorgensen of Villarreal, but according to a report from Bold, the goalkeeper was not manager Enzo Maresca’s first option for that role.

Instead, the Danish source claims, he wanted to bring Denmark goalkeeper Mads Hermansen to the club, with a long dialogue between Chelsea and Leicester over the 24-year-old.

The clubs were unable to reach an agreement over the transfer fee of the player, with Leicester said to be demanding €47.5 million (£40m) for the player, well above his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €10.6m.

Lukaku heads home

Romelu Lukaku has left Chelsea’s squad in the USA, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The departure of the Belgian will only fuel rumours that he is close to moving to Napoli, where former Blues manager Antonio Conte is said to be “crazy” about signing him.

Napoli chief Giovanni Manna has been discussing transfers amid speculation surrounding Osimhen and Lukaku. He said this week: "We aimed to provide the coach [Antonio Conte] with a competitive team from the first days of training camp to immediately tackle the championship. There will be movements, as there is still a month of the market left, and we might make some additions. This is a process, a project starting this year with the coach at its centre.

"We share a strategy with the club, and we are calm and clear-headed. We will not make any reckless moves but will make decisions that support our technical and tactical ideas."

Lukaku’s future, though, remains up in the air. With a move to Napoli dependent on the Serie A club finding a buyer for Osimhen, the veteran forward will train with Chelsea’s other peripheral players in the meantime.

He did not feature in the 4-1 loss to Celtic at the weekend.

Lukaku has also been linked with a potential move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.

Anselmino finalising Chelsea move

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Aaron Anselmino is in London on Monday to finalise his move to Chelsea from Boca Juniors.

Anselmino will complete a medical before flying back to Argentina, where he is expected to remain on loan at his current team.

He will sign a long-term contract, which will run until 2030 with the option of another year, with Chelsea, who will buy the 19-year-old centre-back for a fee in the region of €18.4 million (£15.5m).

Chalobah asking price revealed

While Chelsea prepare to sign one centre-back, they are readying themselves for the exit of another: Trevoh Chalobah.

The Blues are poised to put an asking price of €41.5m (£35m) on the academy player, who has not travelled with the squad to the USA, GiveMeSport reports.
