After a difficult season Everton are still under stringent finances this summer to bolster Sean Dyche's squad.

Nonetheless, the club has already seemingly made some shrewd investments bringing in the likes of Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille and also signing Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa.

The biggest coup of the club's summer window could just about to start though. Recent reports in Italy are claiming that Everton is looking to bring in Jesper Lindstrom from Napoli.

Lindstrom had an underwhelming campaign last season failing to score or register an assist while also struggling for opportunities. He played a total of just under 600 minutes from 29 appearances - usually coming off the bench in the dying embers of the game.

Before last season, though, he had proven himself in the Bundesliga being one of the most exciting young players in an impressive Eintracht Frankfurt side.

At the time, he even attracted the attention of Liverpool, who were keen to bring him to Anfield last summer.

Lindstrom is a self-confessed Liverpool fan

The move will have been an enticing one for Lindstrom, who is a self-confessed Liverpool supporter. However, instead of accepting Liverpool's offer the Danish international rejected the approach from the Reds and ended up signing for Napoli.

“It was Liverpool and I am a Liverpool supporter, so it would’ve been a madly fascinating experience, but would it have been an intelligent move?” he told Danish newspaper Tipsbladet.

“If I don’t play, then I may as well sit in front of the TV and watch them play there while I am at a different club. I am at an age now where I have to play football.

“This is why I think Napoli represent a good change. It is one of the best clubs in the world and they said I will have many opportunities to play.”

The move to Napoli may not have worked out as he would have hoped but Lindstrom now has a chance of showcasing his ability at Liverpool's arch rivals.

According to a report by Corriere dello Sport, Everton are accelerating a move for Lindstrom and are just one step away from completing a loan deal with an option to buy.

Lindstrom will hope he can revive his career at Everton. For the Blues, it could be a major coup bringing in a player of his talent who has already rejected the club's rivals less than one year ago.
