Fabrizio Romano transfer news: Man Utd HERE WE GO, HUGE Greenwood clause, Lille PUSHING Yoro
Fabrizio Romano, the football transfer news expert, has given the latest updates from the market, with Manchester United dominating the agenda.
He has revealed where the Red Devils stand on a number of issues, including Mason Greenwood, Leny Yoro and Jarrad Branthwaite, as well as announcing a deal that is imminent.

Greenwood to Marseille
Mason Greenwood appears to be close to moving to Marseille, despite ferocious criticism from the Mayor of the Provencal city, who claimed that he will do everything in his power to block the deal.
Romano took to YouTube to explain where the transfer currently lies.
“Man Utd have reached an agreement in principle with Marseille to sell Mason Greenwood. This was one of their main missions this summer,” he said.
“Now the agreement between the clubs is done. Marseille already have the green light from Mason Greenwood, who appreciates the project and the destination. He is tempted by the prospect of working under Roberto De Zerbi.
“But it’s now time for the contract. It’s time for the numbers, like the salary and there are also some specific bonuses wanted by Mason Greenwood in his contract.
“There are still some talks but the agreement between clubs is done. It’s €31m with add ons included in this package. Man Utd will have almost 50% as a sell-on clause. It’s a big percentage.”
’Everything going to plan’ with Zirkzee
Manchester United’s first signing of the Ineos era is set to be Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee. Romano reports that a deal for the Netherlands international forward is close.
United, though, still have some details to iron out, while an official statement is unlikely before the Netherlands’ Euro 2024 exit.
“For Joshua Zirkzee, everything is going to plan,” Romano says. “It’s nearly time for the here we go.
“It’s just about Manchester United deciding how to proceed. They have to decide if they want to pay the release clause immediately or if they want to negotiate with Bologna, maybe pay something more than the release clause, something like €42-43m, but get better payment terms – pay that money in three, four or five years.
“Man Utd have decided to go with Zirkzee. They have an agreement with the player. They’re also respecting the Netherlands in the Euros, but they also believe that in the next days, Joshua Zirkzee will become a new Man Utd signing.”
Van de Beek leaving for bargain fee
Romano took to X to confirm Donny van de Beek’s departure from Man Utd.
The midfielder will leave for just €500,000, having signed from Ajax amid much fanfare for €39m in 2021.
“Donny van de Beek to Girona, here we go!” Romano announced. “Deal in place with Man Utd, permanent move for €500k fixed fee plus several add-ons.
“Easy add-ons to bring fee up to €4/5m plus extra add-ons can make it €15m.
“Contract until June 2028. Man Utd will also have sell-on clause.”
Lille pushing Yoro to Man Utd
There is also good news for Man Utd on Leny Yoro. Although the player wants to move to Real Madrid, Lille are pushing him to sign for the Old Trafford side.
Romano explains: “Manchester United had an official bid for Leny Yoro accepted by Lille. Their president Olivier Letang is pushing for Leny Yoro to join Manchester United. They want him to go there because the best proposal is from them.
“Man Utd have been very aggressive. They have bid €50 million plus add ons worth up to €60m.
“Out of contract in 2025, Man Utd are offering big money to anticipate all the other clubs. Now the decision is for Leny Yoro.
“Lille hope that he chooses to go to Man Utd but Real Madrid are still there and feel they are in control. Why? The only way for Real Madrid to make the deal happen this summer, as with Eduardo Camavinga, another special talent, is to close the deal on their conditions. They won’t pay a €60m package – not at all. Otherwise, they’ll wait until August maybe to get the deal done under their conditions. They could wait until 2025 because they know that Leny Yoro will not sign a new deal with the French club.
“Now it depends on him: will he wait for Real Madrid or accept Manchester United immediately? It’s important to say that Man Utd will not wait for him forever.
“The negotiations for Matthijs de Ligt continue. It’s still a positive conversation. Man Utd are very confident because they have an agreement with the player almost done. De Ligt wants to go to Manchester United and now they need to reach an agreement with Bayern.
“For Jarrard Branthwaite, two bids rejected. The last one was €45m plus €5m in add ons. Everton said no. They keep mentioning Harry Maguire, all the other centre-backs like Josko Gvardiol who have gone for big money in recent years. They don’t feel pressure to sell Branthwaite. But Man Utd are still thinking of the player.”
