Fantasy Premier League: The 10 most expensive FPL players in 2024-25

The 2024-25 Fantasy Premier League season is officially here and fans of the popular fantasy football app will be beginning to put together their first drafts ahead of the Gameweek One deadline.

The first game of the new season isn’t until Friday 16 August, meaning managers have plenty of time to chop and change their squad before the deadline.

As always, FPL managers will be looking to find the best differentials as they seek to win their mini-leagues, but picking the best players is always the preferred starting point. The best players, invariably, are the most expensive.

Erling Haaland kicked off the price reveals with a monumental moment in Fantasy Premier League history. The Man City forward is the most expensive FPL player yet again this season, with a starting price of £15 million. In the process, he has become the most expensive FPL player of all-time.

The Norwegian scored 217 FPL points last season - the fifth most of any player - and he has received a £1m price boost from 2023-24.

Last year, Haaland was the joint-most expensive player in FPL history, along with Thierry Henry (2006-07), Cristiano Ronaldo (2007-08) and Robin van Persie (2013-14).

He is now the outright most expensive FPL player ever.

Mohamed Salah is the second-most expensive FPL player this season. Liverpool's flying winger has a price tag of £12.5m yet again this year.

Cole Palmer is the third-most expensive player this year. The Chelsea man has been handed the largest price increase in FPL history after tallying 244 points last season - the most of any player. Palmer is now £10.5m, having started the 2023-24 campaign at just £5m.

Arsenal's Bukayo Saka and Tottenham Hotspur's Heung-min Son will both cost £10m after impressive 2023-24 campaigns. The former notched 226 FPL points last season - the fourth most of any player - while Son tallied 213 (the sixth-most).

They are narrowly more expensive than Man City midfield pair Phil Foden and Kevin de Bruyne (both £9.5m). Foden enjoyed a spectacular season last year and only the aforementioned Palmer could better his tally of 230 FPL points.

After scoring the third highest number of FPL points last season, Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins has been handed a £9m price tag. The England international is currently the eight-most expensive player in the game.

In ninth place is Newcastle United's Alexander Isak. His tally of 5.7 FPL points per match could only be bettered by eight Premier League players last season.

Martin Odegaard (Arsenal) and Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) are also priced at £8.5m.

Who was the most expensive FPL player in 2023-24?

Last season, Haaland was also the most expensive player in FPL. He was priced at £14m after netting 36 Premier League goals during his debut campaign.

Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah (both £12.5m) were the joint-second most expensive players in the 2023-24 FPL season. However, the former soon left to join Bayern Munich.

Kevin de Bruyne was fourth, with a price of £10.5m, followed closely by Marcus Rashford and Heung-Min Son. They were both £9m assets.

Bruno Fernandes and Arsenal pair Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard were both priced at £8.5m, while Trent Alexander-Arnold was the most expensive defender in the game, with a price of £8m. He was the 10th most expensive player in FPL 2023-24.
