CONFIRMED: Fulham make return to Andre as Palhinha completes Bayern switch

Fulham have made a return for Fluminense midfielder Andre, FootballTransfers has been told.

Talks are ongoing between the Brazilian side and the Cottagers and personal terms are not expected to be a problem. Andre has been a long-time target for the West Londoners, and now Portuguese player Joao Palhinha has completed a move for Bayern Munich, Fulham are looking for a replacement.

Fluminense are holding out for €30 million and FootballTransfers has asked Fulham for comment on whether a bid will be forthcoming.

Fulham had already made two offers for the player in 2023 but an agreement wasn't reached. But a line of communication has continued. Liverpool and West Ham also sought to sign Andre last year but he declined to stay and compete in the Libertadores, which Fluminense won in November of last year.

Fluminense want to keep the 22-year-old for the Brazilian Serie A and Libertadores Round of 16 next month but they now face an uphill battle.

Who is Andre?

Andre was born in Ibirataia, Brazil, in July 2001. He joined Fluminense's youth setup in 2013 after impressing at a young age and has gone on to star in the first-team.

He made his club debut as a substitute in a 1-0 victory over Atletico Goianiense in the Copa do Brasil. Two years later and Andre, a pivotal member of the side, marked his 150th match for Fluminense.

Even though he has not played in Europe, he has received multiple call-ups to the Brazil national team.

He also started in the Copa Libertadores final against Boca Juniors earlier this year, contributing to a 2–1 victory after extra time to secure the club’s first title in the competition.

Standing at 5 foot 9 inches, Andre operates as a defensive midfielder with a preference for his right foot. He is deployed in front of the backline, as part of a double-pivot of a 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 formation.

He is a technical player but is known for his ability to turn over possession and cause pressure to the opponent’s midfield. Andre has good passing ability and is able to carry the ball well, even venturing as far as the third final.

He is a master of dictating tempo and pulling the strings, helping the transition from defense to attack. He has ambitions of playing in the Premier League and now can see that realised.
