Man Utd deal hinges on Aston Villa as Greenwood transfer 'assault' planned
Napoli are plotting a transfer 'assault' on Mason Greenwood, but they will only move if they manage to sell Jesper Lindstrom first, according to Italian media.
Greenwood's future continues to be up in the air, though it is clear that he will not be a Man Utd player next season. Unlike Jadon Sancho, who has returned to the fold, the disgraced Red Devils forward is not training with the team, which is a clear sign that he will be offloaded this summer.
Just a few days ago, the 22-year-old appeared to be on the verge of signing for Marseille after Man Utd had reached an agreement with Roberto de Zerbi's side over a permanent transfer. However, fan outrage and public comments from Marseille's mayor condemning the potential transfer have seen the deal stall.

This has given hope to other clubs, with Greenwood being in high demand in Italy, in particular. Lazio retain an interest, having tried to sign him already last year, while Napoli have now also entered the mix.
Napoli move hinges on Lindstrom
However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Antonio Conte's side will only make a move for Greenwood if they first sell Jesper Lindstrom. The Dane was one of the most disappointing signings of the bygone season and Napoli are ready to cut their losses.
The 2023 Serie A champions are keen to recoup the €30 million they spent on him last summer and the 24-year-old has suitors in England, with Aston Villa and Everton interested.

Last summer, the attacking midfielder was being courted by Arsenal and Liverpool. He ultimately opted for Naples for game time reasons but ultimately only got on the pitch 29 times, failing to contribute a goal or assist, and could now leave the country.
As for Greenwood, it is claimed that he is enticed by the possibility of working with Conte, but Napoli are currently not in a position to put any concrete offer on the table for him. The sale of Lindstrom could, however, unlock the situation.
