Roy Keane proven wrong as Man Utd legend convinces Leny Yoro to sign

Roy Keane has been proven wrong about one aspect of Manchester United's £52 million signing of Leny Yoro.

Keane had previously stated that getting legends to convince players to join a club 'makes no difference'.

The Irishman had been asked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to talk to Jude Bellingham about signing for United and chose not to.

Instead, Bobby Robson and Eric Cantona spoke to the former Birmingham City midfielder and yet he still decided to go to Borussia Dortmund - making Keane look correct.

Keane later told The Overlap: "But do you think it is a bit much for a player to come to a club, and have four or five people there?

"Bellingham wasn’t going to sign for Man United because he met Cantona and Bryan Robson. I don’t know, what difference would it make?

"If I was going to sign for Man United, meeting Bobby Charlton and these people wouldn’t have made a difference to my decision-making to join the club.

"Imagine if you signed him and someone asked ‘Why did you sign?’ ‘Because I met Bryan Robson and Eric Cantona today."

Roy Keane proven wrong

It turns out that Keane was wrong about the impact of legends convincing players to join clubs.

That's because The Athletic are reporting that Rio Ferdinand played a role in Yoro's decision to move to Old Trafford.

Ferdinand is one of the best defenders in United's history and was tasked with talking Yoro into trying to achieve that himself.

And, it appears to have worked as the Frenchman signed the dotted line earlier today.
