Man Utd Transfer News Today: De Ligt SHOCK, Ashworth's £200m GOAL, Branthwaite BOMB
The latest Manchester United football transfer news updates, with the hottest updates on all the potential new signings and sales at Old Trafford, including Jarrad Branthwaite, Victor Osimhen, Matthijs de Ligt and Manuel Ugarte.
Man Utd continue to make good progress in talks with Matthijs de Ligt. In fact, Red Devils chiefs have been surprised by Bayern Munich's low valuation of the Dutchman.
The centre-back is a popular figure with Bayern fans and they have now begun petitioning the club to keep him. However, the club no longer trust him and are looking to move him on.
De Ligt is focusing solely on moving to Manchester United this summer, Fabrizio Romano has claimed.
The Netherlands defender has already given the “green light” for a move to Old Trafford, and he is not talking to any other club about a move.
“Matthijs de Ligt has given the green light to Man Utd over a potential move,” Romano claimed on YouTube. “De Ligt is only negotiating with Manchester United. There are no other clubs in conversations with De Ligt because his only focus is on Man Utd. They are the only club with a green light from the player.
“The agent of the player, Rafaela Pimenta, is working on this deal. The contract is not going to be a big problem. Talks over personal terms are under way.
“Man Utd will try to be creative with negotiations with Bayern. They want around €50 million. Man Utd will try to offer less than this: €35-40m with add ons. They want a different structure.”
Ashworth's delusional plan
New Man Utd sporting director has identified seven players he would ideally like to sell this summer to raise £200m for new recruits.
The problem is that the players in question are Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho and Antony.
As per, FootballTransfers' in-house Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) algorithm these players are nowhere near as valuable as Man Utd think.
In fact, it is even being reported that Jadon Sancho’s price is set to drop once again, with Man Utd now ready to accept just €35m for the England international winger. That is less than his ETV of €41.5m.
Previously, United’s demands had put the player out of reach of Borussia Dortmund, where he spent the second half of the season.
It is hoped that the price drop will reignite interest from the Bundesliga side, but also Juventus, Barcelona and potentially over Premier League sides, Manchester Evening News reports.

Branthwaite not forcing Man Utd deal
Jarrad Branthwaite is not ready to push for a move away from Everton to join Man Utd, FootballTransfers can exclusively reveal.
Although the Red Devils have been pursuing the England defender, they have been unable to broker a deal with the Merseyside club, who are holding out for a fee in the region of €77 million (£65m) for the centre-back. United have so far only offered around half this fee.
Terms have been agreed with the player over his Man Utd contract, but it appears they are not about to get any help from Branthwaite in terms of forcing a move through as he is unwilling to go to war with Everton over the deal.

Osimhen discount to trigger Man Utd move?
Man Utd will not have to pay Victor Osimhen’s release clause in full if they want to sign him from Napoli, but the Old Trafford club have been warned that the Serie A giants have a figure in mind they will not dip below.
SportMediaSet reports that there are four match players in the transfer race for Osimhen, with United facing competition from Arsenal, Chelsea and PSG for the Nigeria international hitman.
Osimhen will be allowed to depart – but not for a sum below €100m.
With Rasmus Hojlund quickly improving, there is, however, serious doubt over whether United may be willing to make a move, particularly with the 25-year-old demanding wages in the region of €10m per year.

Ugarte’s future decided
Manchester United target Manuel Ugarte is set to leave current employers PSG this summer, with 90Min reporting that the Ligue 1 champions are trying to sell the Uruguay international midfielder.
Although Man Utd have denied that they have made an offer worth €35m, the report indicates that “sources close to PSG” claim the opposite.
Bayern Munich are notably interested in the former Sporting CP midfield enforcer.
Meanwhile, PSG will continue to keep faith in Randal Kolo-Muani, who was linked with a big-money money to Man Utd last summer.

Man Utd to sack QUARTER of staff
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has long been threatening to cut Manchester United’s staffing costs and is poised to do that back sacking 25% of the club’s staff.
According to the Daily Mail, 250 of the club’s 1000-strong employees have been told that they will be losing their jobs.
There are two key reasons behind the move, the report states. Firstly, the programme is thought to be bound to save Man Utd “tens of millions”, with Ratcliffe ready to pump that money into Erik ten Hag’s squad.
It is added that the size of the club’s workforce does not reflect how the club is performing on the field.
The Glazers have rubber-stamped this move.
