Man Utd Transfer News Today: Casemiro CIVIL WAR, Sancho exit SOON, Zirkzee LATEST
The latest Manchester United football transfer news updates, with the hottest updates on all the potential new signings and sales at Old Trafford, including Joshua Zirkzee, Jadon Sancho, Matthijs de Ligt, Manuel Ugarte and much more.
Casemiro problem
FootballTransfers understands that Casemiro is determined to remain at Man Utd, while Erik ten Hag would also prefer to keep the Brazilian around. However, the board could defy the coach and try to broker a sale to raise funds this summer.
Casemiro is keen to make amends for his underwhelming performances last term. The 32-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, but the midfielder would prefer to remain at the highest level and show that he can still perform.
New left-back target
Girona's Miguel Gutierrez has emerged as a new left-back target for Man Utd. According to AS, the Red Devils are 'knocking on his door,' though the player is hesitant to make a decision on his future before the Olympics.
Real Madrid have an €8m buy-back option, while the 22-year-old has a €35m release clause. The Spaniard's current 'priority' remains Girona, but things could change quickly if Los Blancos were to trigger their clause and then look to flip him for more money.
Man Utd get positive Zirkzee sign
Manchester United are still looking good to add Netherlands striker Joshua Zirkzee to their ranks this summer.
Di Marzio reports that AC Milan have pivoted to look at Alvaro Morata of Atletico Madrid after they could not agree a deal with Zirkzee's agent over his compensation payment.
It was at this point Man Utd made their move, with Kia Joorabchian willing to give them a discount in this regard due to their standing.
Fabrizio Romano says Milan will not revisit a deal unless the agent lowers his demands.
Man Utd change Sancho stance as exit close
The prospect of Jadon Sancho leaving Man Utd for the 2024/25 season has just increased, with La Stampa (via TMW) indicating that the Red Devils are now open to allowing the England winger to depart on loan. Previously, the club had been insistent that only a permanent deal would do, with a price of around €47 million (£40m) put on his head.
Borussia Dortmund had been priced out of a move for Sancho due to the demands of his club, where he apparently has no future after falling out with manager Erik ten Hag. The Bundesliga side could revisit the deal if United are willing to offer loan terms.
Reports in Italy, though, suggest that Juventus can offer the player favourable terms, potentially making them the preference of Man Utd, if not the player.
Additionally, it has been claimed that the Bianconeri have really 'upped the ante' in their pursuit of Sancho and could look to strike a deal as early as next week, with the Red Devils determined to offload Sancho before they kick off their pre-season with a friendly against Rosenborg on July 15.
Ten Hag signs new contract
Manager Erik ten Hag has signed a new contract that runs until 2026 with Man Utd.
In a statement released by the club, the former Ajax boss said:
"I am very pleased to have reached agreement with the club to continue working together. Looking back at the past two years, we can reflect with pride on two trophies and many examples of progression from where we were when I joined.
"However, we must also be clear that there is still lots of hard work ahead to reach the levels expected of Manchester United, which means challenging for English and European titles.
"In my discussions with the club, we have found complete unity in our vision for reaching those goals, and we are all strongly committed to making that journey together."

De Ligt deal done
Matthijs de Ligt will be Manchester United’s first summer signing, according to a report from the Sun, which confirms the Bayern Munich man will join the Old Trafford outfit after Euro 2024.
The 24-year-old worked with Ten Hag at Ajax and is expected to join the Red Devils for a fee of around €47.3 million (£40m).
With an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €52.8m, this is a bargain signing for Man Utd and represents a strong statement from owners INEOS.
United have been searching for a centre-back for several weeks and may still complete a move for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, although his price will have to drop significantly for that to become a reality.
Ugarte makes decision over his future
PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte is one of several players linked with Man Utd as they seek a defensive player for the middle of the park.
According to Ben Jacobs, Ugarte has told PSG that he plans to leave the club in the summer.
FootballTransfers revealed on Tuesday that there is major competition for the former Sporting CP player, who is a defensive specialist.
PSG are not in a rush to sell the player, though. They wish to recoup the €60m they spent on him last summer, and with Ugarte under contract until 2028, they are in control of the situation.
Man Utd are said to have approached PSG with a “verbal offer” for the player.
Joao Neves bid rejected
Manchester United have had a bid worth €70m (£59m) for Benfica midfielder Joao Neves rejected by the Portuguese giants.
Correio da Manha reports that Paris Saint-Germain also submitted an identical offer that Benfica dismissed.
Arsenal and Chelsea are also credited with an interest in the teenager, but United are said to be the only Premier League club to formalise their interest with a bid.
Benfica are said to be holding out for €120m for the player.
Romano confirms FootballTransfers’ Kerkez exclusive
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed FootballTransfers’ exclusive that Man Utd have genuine interest in Hungary international left-back Milos Kerkez, who plays for Bournemouth.
Speaking to Caught Offside, he said: "Manchester United's interest is genuine, so I think Kerkez could be one of the options, but not the only one from what I have heard.
“They are also assessing other options. I think they're waiting to see what happens with any other opportunities in the market for that position, and they will make a decision. But left-back is another position they want to cover for this summer, for sure.”
Sergio Reguilon is also being watched by Man Utd for the left-back slot, according to AS.
The Tottenham player had his loan deal cut short by the Red Devils in January but could make an unlikely return.
Greenwood, Van de Beek close to exit
Marseille are growing in confidence that they will sign Mason Greenwood, with Lazio having had a €20m bid for the England striker knocked back by Man Utd.
Gianluca Di Marzio indicates that OM are keen to act quickly to secure the former Getafe striker for Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.
Donny van de Beek, meanwhile, is in talks with the club over a permanent departure after a wretched spell at Old Trafford.
He spent the second half of last season at Eintracht Frankfurt, but the Bundesliga side rejected the chance to sign him for €12m.
