The 25-year-old has just one year left on his current contract at Anfield and he is yet to sign an extension, casting doubt over his future at the club.

Alexander-Arnold was named Liverpool’s vice captain last summer, but Real Madrid have been interested for several months and the Spanish giants are hoping to seal his signature as they search for a long-term Dani Carvajal replacement.

Los Blancos have been linked with signing a new right-back for the best part of four years, but Chelsea’s Reece James had seemingly been their primary target until now.

However, Alexander-Arnold has emerged as an option for Real Madrid over the past few months, and the LaLiga giants are now in contact with the Liverpool star, according to BILD’s Christian Falk.

The England international has a strong relationship with Los Blancos superstar Jude Bellingham and with Carvjal now 32, Real Madrid are evidently looking to sign a future replacement.

They are targeting Alphonso Davies on the opposite flank, while Kylian Mbappe and Endrick have strengthened the attack amid their pursuit of European dominance.

Trent Alexander-Arnold to benefit from Arne Slot’s arrival

Before stepping down as Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp admitted that Alexander-Arnold could benefit from the influence of a new head coach at Anfield.

“He has been a fantastic player from the first day,” Klopp admitted. “[He is an] outstanding talent and [he] has turned into a world class football player.

“It is rare as a manager you are part of a journey for such a long time. Trent has never had another manager so it will be good for him to get new influences in the future. But he can be happy with the steps he has made.

“It is nice to have these players around. I have nothing bad to say about him and his development. He has a story that not many clubs can write but he will be someone people talk about in 30 years.”

Alexander-Arnold made 37 appearances in all competitions last season, contributing 12 goals and assists, while he has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €38.7 million, largely due to the fact he only has one year left on his Liverpool deal.

His highest ETV was back in August 2022, when Alexander-Arnold was valued at €103.5m.
