West Ham United have reportedly made an approach to sign Chelsea linked Crysencio Summerville who caught the eye at Leeds United last season.

Summerville has been linked with a plethora of clubs after winning the Championship's Player of the Season award last season, however it is Chelsea who has been mooted to have shown the most recent interest in the player.

A recent report has suggested Chelsea were actively holding 'firm talks' with the player's representative over a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

Earlier on in the window, the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool were also linked with the Dutchman. Brighton had also pursued a move before option to bring in Newcastle United's Yankuba Minteh instead.

Now it seems like West Ham United could be looking to prise Summerville away from Leeds United and help him make a return to the Premier League.

According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham United have made an approach to sign Summerville and have held talks with the player as well in a bid to convince him to join the Hammers.

West Ham United looking to sign Summerville

According to Romano, these talks are in the early stages and the deal still seems expensive for West Ham to pull off. Meanwhile Romano mentions that AS Roma are also interested in Summerville as well.

West Ham are certainly not lacking for options on the left and right wing, but a player of Summerville's ilk could be a huge addition with him linking up with the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen in attack.

It's clear Summerville is looking to move on from Leeds United this summer. After Leeds failed to gain promotion back to the Premier League, it's only natural that a player who proved last season he was too good for the Championship would be looking to move on.

That desire could help force a move with Leeds United, knowing they have no other choice but to let Summerville go.

Nonetheless, the club will be resolute when it comes to accepting offers for Summerville. They will know he is a huge asset and will not sell him for a bargain price.

He still has a contract at the club until 2026, and that gives Leeds a bargaining edge. Although they must also be aware that with just two years left on Summerville's contract and after the season he has just had - now is the best time to sell for him the most amount of money.

No matter how good of a season Summerville would have at Leeds next season if he stays, the club will be aware they will not be able to sell him for the price they could now.

This is a saga that is expected to go into the latter stages of the window with plenty of clubs still interested.

Whether Chelsea or West Ham make any concrete moves for Summerville's services remains to be seen.
