Ramsdale suffers setback as bid launched for €6m keeper
Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale’s frustrating transfer window goes on, with the England international shot-stopper very firmly second choice behind David Raya at the Emirates Stadium.
Ajax have been linked with a loan move for the 26-year-old, and while Fabrizio Romano says that he expects movement for the former Bournemouth No.1 imminently, there has been a crucial update from the Netherlands over the Amsterdam club’s interest.
The Eredivisie giants have indicated that they could be ready to move on from Ramsdale as a serious target as they have instead put Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Jean Butez in their viewfinder. Talks have been opened for a goalkeeper who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €5.7 million.
This comes after a report from The Athletic that indicated that Ajax had a loan bid rejected for Ramsdale, who is said to be open to the possibility of joining fellow England player Jordan Henderson in the Netherlands.

What now for Ramsdale?
Romano has confirmed that Arsenal have got Joan Garcia of Espanyol lined up as a potential replacement for Ramsdale, with FootballTransfers having first revealed news of this deal way back on 4 July.
Although the football transfer news reporter hinted that there are multiple possibilities for Ramsdale as he talked of “possibilities” for the keeper, it appears that a switch to Ajax is an increasingly distant prospect.

Arsenal’s idea is to sell Ramsdale, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €22.3m, on a permanent basis. The Gunners’ asking price is thought to have been set around the €35m mark, which will put him out of reach of many clubs, including Ajax.
For his part, Ramsdale has indicated that he wants a resolution to his situation, having told TalkSport in July: “No footballer wants to not play. I’ve had a tough year personally not playing and I never want to do that again.”
After making just 11 appearances last season for Arsenal, Ramsdale was again on the bench as the Emirates side kicked off their Premier League season with a 2-0 win over Wolves on Saturday.
