The Gunners have softened their stance on the striker's exit and are now actively working to effect his departure. Talks with Olympique Marseille had stalled but they were reignited in the wake of Arsenal indicating a willingness to lower their demands.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Arsenal have now proposed a transfer formula that is awaiting a decision from Marseille. The north London giants are now willing to accept an initial loan move but with a €30 million obligation to purchase the striker.

Earlier on Friday, it was revealed by French media that Arsenal were asking for a €25m fee, but according to Ornstein, the demands are slightly higher. Now, Marseille will have to decide whether or not to proceed with the offer put on the table by Arsenal.

Nketiah wants Marseille

Personal terms over a five-year contract have already been agreed between Nketiah and Marseille. The 25-year-old is keen on the move after having only been third-choice at Arsenal last season.

Already earlier this week, it was revealed that the Gunners' new demands were more 'reasonable,' though Marseille had already moved onto different targets.

In addition to initiating talks with Youssoufa Moukoko of Borussia Dortmund, the Ligue 1 outfit tabled two bids for RC Lens striker Elye Wahi that were both rejected. The latter caused them to pick up talks with Arsenal again after the Premier League side had agreed to reduce their demands.

However, it still remains to be seen whether Marseille are ready to potentially pay €30m for Nketiah. It has been a busy summer for the French giants under new coach Roberto de Zerbi and a lot of money has already been spent.
