Arsenal Transfer News Today: Ferguson BID, Osimhen HOPE, Merino AT LAST!
The latest Arsenal football transfer news updates, with the hottest updates on all the potential new signings and sales at the Emirates Stadium, including Evan Ferguson, Mikel Merino and Victor Osimhen.
Arsenal line up Ferguson bid
FootballTransfers has exclusively revealed that Arsenal are lining up a move for Brighton striker Evan Ferguson in a deal that could beat the transfer deadline.
Brighton have set an asking price of around £70 million for the 19-year-old Ireland international but the Gunners are eyeing up a loan offer.
Manchester City offer competition in this race, with Pep Guardiola also following Ferguson as Transfer Deadline Day approaches.
Osimhen hope
With Arsenal still targeting a new No.9 before 30 August, could they land Napoli striker Victor Osimhen?
Roberto Calenda, the agent of the Nigeria international, has fuelled expectations that Osimhen will remain in European football, delivering a message indicating that the player has no intention of moving to the Saudi Pro League.
“Osimhen is a Napoli player, with a contract recently renewed with mutual satisfaction. He made history and when there were major offers (also this year) we always accepted the club's decisions,” he said.
“As I said, he is not a package to be shipped far away to make room for new prophets. Victor was elected African footballer of the year, eighth at the Ballon d'Or, he still has so much to do in Europe. There needs to be respect and balance.”
Previously, Fabrizio Romano had indicated that Al-Hilal had launched a bid for the much-wanted forward, who is destined to leave the Serie A club this week.
What’s the latest of Mikel Merino?
Mikel Merino is finally expected to become an Arsenal player, but it’s a question of when.
A report in Spain indicates that Real Sociedad have been frustrated with the slow progress of the bureaucratic process surrounding the deal, with claims the Gunners have “put the brakes on” the deal.
But while Arsenal have slowed down their advance for Merino, the deal is fully expected to go through. It’s just a case of when.
Nketiah to Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace have moved into pole position to sign Eddie Nketiah, with Nottingham Forest falling out of the running.
Nketiah failed to agree personal terms with Forest, according to The Athletic.
FootballTransfers’ first reported Palace’s interest in the England striker, who had been close to joining Marseille, as far back as last December.
Fabrizio Romano says Palace have already tabled a bid.
Kiwior bids rejected
Arsenal have knocked back several offers from Serie A clubs to take Jakub Kiwior on loan, TMW reports.
Although the Pole is a backup defender at the Emirates, Mikel Arteta is resistant to him leaving at this point in the transfer window, particularly on a temporary basis.
Bologna have sounded the Gunners out over the player, who they see as a potential replacement for Riccardo Calafiori, while Juventus and AC Milan have also had offers for the player knocked back.
Enquiries for Cedric
Cedric Soares remains a free agent after leaving Arsenal following the expiration of his contract at the Emirates.
Ben Jacobs has reported on X the latest surrounding the full-back.
“PSV and Feyenoord have made enquiries to Cedric on his terms. Ajax remains interested and Flamengo and Botafogo still in contact as well. Cedric available on a free transfer after leaving Arsenal,” he said.
