The Albania international, 22, was omitted from the Blues’ squad to face Manchester City on Sunday afternoon and he is now on the verge of leaving the club on a season-long loan deal.

News of Broja’s imminent loan move to Portman Road was first reported by The East Anglian Daily Times, while Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the deal will include an obligation to buy if Ipswich escape Premier League relegation.

The Tractor Boys are one of the favourites to finish in the bottom three this season, but they will be obliged to buy Broja on a permanent deal for €35 million if they survive, as per Romano.

Broja spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham, however he mustered just 81 minutes of action in all competitions, with Rodrigo Muniz preferred by Marco Silva. He didn’t start a single match for the club and he failed to score in each of his eight appearances.

Upon his return to Stamford Bridge, Broja was immediately expected to leave the club amid interest from AC Milan and Stuttgart.

Furthermore, Pedro Neto recently took his No.19 shirt and he is no longer included in Chelsea’s first-team squad list on the club’s website.

The 22-year-old, who joined Chelsea’s academy in 2009, has made 38 first-team appearances for the Blues, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
