Chelsea remain in talks with Napoli over a deal for Victor Osimhen and reports suggest that the club are "confident" that a deal can be made.

The Nigeran international has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, in particular Al-Ahli.

The club has agreed terms with Osimhen, as well as Brentford striker Ivan Toney. It's thought that Chelsea cannot afford to match the contract offers from the Saudi Pro League side, leaving their transfer hopes on the edge of a knife.

DEADLINE DAY: Every confirmed transfer around Europe

But journalist Rudy Galetti has claimed that the Premier League club remain confident over a possible move for the forward. He posted on X formerly known as Twitter: "Chelsea are still discussing with Napoli the verbal proposal made for Osimhen.

"Chelsea are also in contact with his camp to finalize the last details, after having reached a general understanding on personal terms.

Chelsea: are still confident to get the deal done."

Osimhen and Toney to Saudi?

Quite simply Al-Ahli don’t have the slots in their squad to allow two foreign players to sign for the club.

Saudi Pro League teams can have eight foreign players in their squad plus two more born in 2003 or later. Right now, Al-Ahli have eight foreigners in their squad but one, Alexsander, who counts as an U21 player.

FootballTransfers reported today Chelsea could pursue a move for Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin if they are unable to sign Victor Osimhen or Ivan Toney, FootballTransfers understands.

Calvert-Lewin has just one year remaining on his current contract at Goodison Park, and we have been told that both Chelsea and Arsenal are admirers of the former England international.

Calvert-Lewin scored seven goals and provided two assists in 29 Premier League appearances last season, while he also notched one goal and one assist in the Carabao Cup.

We have also been informed that Everton are interested in signing Chelsea forward David Datro Fofana, which could potentially help Calvert-Lewin’s chances of sealing a Stamford Bridge switch.

Furthermore, the 27-year-old could leave Everton before Deadline Day ends, with a late move away from the club currently deemed a possibility.
