Maresca reveals Chelsea stance on Madueke after brutal Sterling comments

Enzo Maresca brutally told Raheem Sterling to leave Chelsea. Now, he has spoken about Noni Madueke.

The final week of the transfer window promises to be an erratic one at Chelsea, though, to be sure, the entire summer has once again been crazy at Stamford Bridge.

However, the last seven days could yet outdo anything we have seen at any point this year, with Chelsea desperate to offload a double-digit amount of players, while also still retaining hope of landing the transfer coup of signing Victor Osimhen.

To help the Chelsea chiefs in their attempts to sell players, coach Enzo Maresca has publically told several of the Blues' biggest stars that they are surplus to requirements. After doing so with Ben Chilwell, he brutally told Raheem Sterling on Wednesday that he could stay at Chelsea for 20 years and not play.

Now, Maresca has given his thoughts on the future of Noni Madueke.

Maresca criticises Madueke - but wants to keep him

Madueke is another wide player who has been linked with a move away in recent weeks. As confirmed by FootballTransfers, Newcastle hold a credible interest in the 22-year-old and are considering an offer.

However, the Magpies are reluctant to meet Chelsea's asking price of around €59 million. If it were up to Maresca, Madueke would stay put, though he did admit that 'anything can happen' between now and August 30.

Speaking after Chelsea's laboured 2-0 Conference League qualifying win over Servette, the Italian said: "I really like Noni, the only problem with him is he has to understand he needs consistency during the week in every training session. But he is a good player and he is doing well with us since we started.

"Yes, absolutely [I want to keep him]. But the problem is, the reality is that until the transfer window is not open, anything can happen. But for sure, Noni is the type of player that I like."
