New Chelsea target: Romano reveals Chalobah replacement
Chelsea are eyeing Benfica centre-back Tomas Araujo in the event of a defender leaving before the Friday deadline, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues' summer transfer business is far from over even with just two days remaining in the window. Chelsea have once again been one of the busiest sides in the market and this is set to continue until August 30.
The London giants remain locked in negotiations with Napoli over Victor Osimhen and are the striker's favoured destination despite Saudi side Al-Ahli now improving their offer and seemingly yielding to the Nigerian's every demand.

Despite the Osimhen saga stealing the spotlight, Chelsea could yet make some moves on the defensive front as well. Newcastle are being frustrated by Crystal Palace in their pursuit of Marc Guehi and have been linked with Axel Disasi as a potential alternative.
Trevoh Chalobah, meanwhile, is being actively pushed out of Stamford Bridge, with the homegrown defender forced to train away from first-team facilities with the rest of the Blues' outcasts.
Chelsea eye Araujo
So, with a defender potentially yet on the way out, Chelsea are looking at realistic replacements. One of the new names that has now emerged as a target for the Premier League side is Tomas Araujo.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the former Portugal youth international is on Chelsea's shortlist in the event they need to replace an outgoing defensive player.

The 22-year-old is, however, also on the radar of PSG. The Parisians are targeting the Benfica star as a replacement for Milan Skriniar, who is in talks with Saudi side Al-Nassr.
A move to the French capital appears, therefore, more advanced at this stage, but it scarcely needs mentioning that absolutely anything can happen in the market when Chelsea are involved.
