How Chelsea were REJECTED by Liverpool target Mamardashvili
Liverpool transfer target Giorgi Mamardashvili turned down a move to Chelsea this summer, according to Anfield Watch.
The Valencia goalkeeper drew significant attention with his outstanding performances for Georgia during Euro 2024. In the 1-1 draw against the Czech Republic, he made an impressive 11 saves, despite facing shots with an Expected Goals on Target (xGOT) of four.
According to reports, these performances did not go unnoticed, prompting Chelsea to move quickly in their efforts to bring him to Stamford Bridge as their latest signing.

The 23-year-old wasn’t swayed by the money on offer or convinced of the Chelsea project. He rejected their advances and the Blues were forced to turn their attention the way of Filip Jorgensen, with the Danish goalkeeper joining in a deal worth €24.5 million from Villarreal last month.
Chelsea have signed Jorgensen to compete with Robert Sanchez in the No.1 role, with the expectation being that Djordje Petrovic is moved on following the arrival of the 22-year-old.
According to new reports, Mamardashvili views a move to Liverpool as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and is hoping a deal can quickly be agreed.
Liverpool find Alisson Beck successor
The 21-cap Georgian moved to Valencia in 2021 from Dinamo Tbilisi having impressed on loan at Locomotive Tbilisi.
The 6ft6 goalkeeper has been the No1 at the Mestella for the past two seasons and posted Alisson Becker-esque numbers in LaLiga last term having prevented 10.2 more goals than your average shot-stopper.
Mamardashvili had been linked to Newcastle earlier in the window but the Magpies reportedly baulked at Valencia's initial €40m asking price.
The youngster's heroics in the European Championships have drawn national attention to the player, who now looks to join the Anfield club.
