Liverpool set HUGE asking price for shock Chelsea target

Liverpool have set their asking price for Joe Gomez as the Englishman continues to be linked with an Anfield departure this summer.

Gomez, 27, was excluded from the Reds’ squad to face Ipswich Town on Saturday and he is expected to leave the club before the transfer window ends.

The England international is admired by multiple Premier League clubs and Liverpool even accepted an offer from Newcastle United earlier this summer, before the Magpies opted against letting Anthony Gordon move to Anfield.

Chelsea, Aston Villa and Fulham are also interested in signing Gomez, according to The Times.

Furthermore, CaughtOffside have now reported that Liverpool will accept bids in the region of €35-40 million for the ex-Charlton Athletic defender.

Gomez has three years remaining on his current Liverpool contract, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at just over €20m. As a result, Arne Slot’s side are demanding a fee that is double Gomez’s actual market value.

Although naturally a centre-back, Gomez featured regularly at full-back last season, but his versatility has clearly not been enough to persuade Slot that he deserves a first-team place at Anfield.

Chelsea to sign Joe Gomez?

Chelsea have already signed four defenders so far this summer - Tosin Adarabioyo, Renato Veiga, Aaron Anselmino and Caleb Wiley - although the latter two have been sent out on loan for the 2024-25 campaign.

In addition, the Blues are looking to sell Trevoh Chalobah and Ben Chilwell before the window ends, and they could enter the market for another defender if they’re able to offload both players.

Gomez has made 224 first-team appearances for Liverpool since joining the club from Charlton for just under €5m, while he started 17 Premier League games last term.

The Reds have already sold Fabio Carvalho to Brentford so far this summer, and they are yet to sign a single first-team player.
