Chelsea to sell Raheem Sterling? The state of play revealed

Chelsea are not in talks with Juventus over Raheem Sterling, according to a report.

The Blues winger is facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge. A €56 million signing in 2022, Sterling has failed to set the world alight at Chelsea, though he did have a good, albeit brief, run of form last term.

With Chelsea stacked on the wings and all the more so after the €63m arrival of Pedro Neto, talk of a potential exit of Sterling has proliferated in recent days.

The Blues had worked in almost total secrecy to strike a deal for Neto and, though he is left-footed, he could star on the left wing, potentially pushing Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk out of the Chelsea team.

In the wake of the arrival of Neto, Juventus supposedly enquired about Sterling as they continue to sound out the market for wingers. The Athletic, however, has now cast doubt on the Old Lady's interest.

Sterling determined to stay

The report states that there is 'no substance' to links between Sterling and Juventus. In fact, it is claimed that the 29-year-old is fully focused on heading into the new season as a Chelsea player under Enzo Maresca.

Sterling's sizeable wages likely make a move away difficult, while Chelsea will also surely demand a significant fee given that the former England international is still under contract until 2027.

Instead of Sterling, Noni Madueke could perhaps depart the Blues this summer. Newcastle are said to be interested in him as Miguel Almiron is being courted by Charlotte FC. However, FootballTransfers understands that Madueke is keen to stay at Chelsea.

Chelsea could thus head into the new season with five senior wingers on their books, four of whom will surely expect to start in Sterling, Mudryk, Neto and Madueke.

The future of Angelo Gabriel, the fifth winger, remains up in the air after his underwhelming Strasbourg loan. Diego Moreira, meanwhile, is on the verge of sealing a permanent move to the BlueCo sister club to avoid taking up an international loan spot.
