Samu Omorodion to Chelsea has COLLAPSED - David Ornstein

Samu Omorodion’s proposed move from Atletico Madrid to Chelsea has collapsed.

The Spain U21 international was expected to join the Blues for a reported fee of €40 million, but the deal will not happen, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

The transfer expert has revealed that the deal has collapsed due to issues regarding personal terms.

Omorodion was set to sign a seven-year contract at Chelsea after the Blues had agreed a fee with Atletico Madrid, however the deal has fallen through due to a dispute over contractual terms.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Alaves and he notched eight goals in 35 appearances for the club.

Samu Omorodion to stay at Atletico Madrid

It comes after reports from Spain indicated that Omorodion had failed his medical at Chelsea. According to Relevo, Omorodion didn’t satisfactorily pass his medical examination and has returned to Atletico Madrid after travelling to London.

Omorodion’s failed Stamford Bridge transfer will not impact Conor Gallagher and Julian Alvarez’s respective moves to Atletico Madrid, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Both players are expected to join Diego Simeone’s side, although neither have been officially unveiled as Atleti players.

With Omorodion no longer joining Chelsea, it could open the door for the Blues to sign long-time target Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian has reportedly handed in a transfer request at Napoli and is looking to seal a transfer before the summer window closes.

Napoli are eager to sign Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku as his replacement, meaning a swap deal of sorts is on the cards.

Chelsea confirmed their signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto on Sunday, with their summer spending total now at €189m.

The Blues have purchased nine players this summer, including Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen and Barcelona forward Marc Guiu.
