The transfer saga surrounding the Napoli striker is going right down to the end of Deadline Day. Chelsea are facing a race against time to reach an agreement with Osimhen, though he is keen to join.

David Ornstein of The Athletic has revealed the 25-year-old's desire to head to Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea still have to convince him to agree to fit into their salary structure.

The Blues' wage bill has been significantly reduced in recent seasons and they are not willing to undo the progress made on that front purely to sign Osimhen.

There appears to be an agreement in principle with Saudi giants Al-Ahli, but they are focusing on signing Ivan Toney, who is in the process of having his medical, as Osimhen only views a move to the Middle East as a last resort.

The ball is still in Chelsea's court, as it has been for several days.

Broja to unlock Osimhen?

A deal that could potentially aid the Blues in their pursuit of Osimhen involves exiled striker Armando Broja. Previously, a transfer to Premier League new boys Ipswich Town collapsed due to irregularities during his medical.

Broja is facing an injury issue that could keep him out until October, but the Tractor Boys have now picked up talks with Chelsea again, Ornstein reports. Ipswich are looking to loan the Albanian and have had two fresh bids rejected.

DEADLINE DAY: Every confirmed transfer around Europe

Speaking ahead of a clash with Fulham, Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna confirmed that his club is once again negotiating for the striker. Broja moving on could open up a spot for Osimhen in Chelsea's squad, with the promoted side previously showing themselves willing to pay more than a whopping €30 million for the striker.
