Darwin Nunez to Arsenal: Fans react to stunning rumour
Could Darwin Nunez really move to Arsenal from Liverpool in the final days of the transfer window?
It’s the question that’s seen social media explode, with fans of both clubs stunned by the suggestion that the Reds could sell one of their most unique commodities to their Premier League rivals.
The rumour seems to have risen from a tweet posted by Eduardo Hagn, who claims via his bio that he works for ESPN Chile.
He posted: “I don’t really have any connections with Liverpool, but I work with retired South American footballers and I heard Darwin Nunez is looking for a way out.”
From here the rumour seems to have grown arms and legs.
Barely an hour later, an account from an Arsenal fan with more than 160k followers claimed: “Arsenal interested in signing Darwin Nunez before Friday’s transfer deadline. Player keen to move to London and work under Mikel to win trophies and Liverpool willing to sell. Improbable but not impossible.”
Unsurprisingly, it has sparked a strong reaction from supporters, with those at both Arsenal and Liverpool divided by the incredible rumour.
Fans split over Nunez rumours
“The fans of the club who saw Giroud, Lacazette, and Gabriel Jesus miss chance after chance for them now want Nunez. It's a mental sickness,” one Arsenal supporter said.
Another joked: “Nunez, Jesus and Havertz? Man, that's impressive. That's probably a 60-goal forward line.
“And I'm sure they'll reach that total between them by 2027.”
Not everyone had such a negative view.
“I'll be honest, I don't see how you can stop Arsenal with Darwin Nunez. That'd be unbearable for almost every team to live with. I know for a fact Manchester City can't,” one Gooner said.
Another added: “One thing I would say about Darwin Nunez is. He is a handful. There is defo a top player in there just very, very raw.”

Despite Nunez’s struggles, Liverpool fans are more upbeat about the South American, though their opinions are not unanimous.
“Darwin Nunez deserves a season under Arne Slot. I personally wouldn’t sell him with three days to go,” one Reds fan stated.
Another added: “Wait, Darwin Nunez wants out?
“Absolutely no way we can let him go man, his ceiling is sky high.”
But not everyone at Anfield is so impressed by him.
One fan said: “Nunez may not be off this summer, but I’ll be real, I’d be very surprised if he’s still here this time next year.
“Despite all the great physical attributes, you can’t coach a football IQ, which he doesn’t have and never will have.”
