The winger was said to be incredibly excited to join the Reds as it has always been an ambition of his to move to the Premier League.

"I'm very happy to join Liverpool. I want to say thanks to Liverpool," Chiesa said.

He will fly to Liverpool later today before undergoing his medical and officially becoming a Red.

Liverpool have been long-term admirers of Chiesa, having tried to sign him in previous summers under Jurgen Klopp.

New manager Arne Slot is also a fan of the player.

Liverpool had been keen to bring in one more attacking winger before the end of the transfer window and have now got their man.

They have beaten Barcelona to his signing, with the Blaugrana unable to put in an official offer due to financial and registration restrictments.

Why Juventus are selling Chiesa

Juventus had been desperate to sell Chiesa, who they have frozen out of the squad since the start of pre season.

Chiesa's contract expires in 2025 and he was unable to agree on a new deal.

The Italian had been considered one of the best wingers in the world after starring in Italy Euro 2020 victory in 2021.

However, an ACL injury in January 2022 has slowed down his career and he has never refound his form ever since returning.

New Juventus manager Thiago Motta did not consider Chiesa part of his plans and was happy to let him leave.

Juventus have signed two wingers this summer already to replace Chiesa in Nico Gonzalez of Fiorentina and Francisco Conceicao of Porto on loan, and they will now accelerate their attempts to sign Jadon Sancho from Man Utd on loan, also.

Chiesa joined Juventus from Fiorentina in 2020. He made 131 appearances, scoring 32 goals, winning two Coppa Italia trophies and an Italian Super Cup.
