United will make the signings of the Bayern Munich duo official in the coming hours, likely on Tuesday.

The pair passed their medicals in Manchester on Monday, and a statement from United is expected imminently.

Romano has revealed that United’s summer spending is not over yet, and he reveals that their next signing will be a central midfielder with PSG’s Manuel Ugarte the favoured option.

What did Romano say?

“Yes, there will be movement, for sure, Manchester United are not done,” Romano told Men in Blazers.

“These two signings [Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui] were really important, especially after the injuries they suffered already in these first weeks of the new season.”

“Then also the conditions of Malacia and Luke Shaw, who are often injured.

“So this is why Manchester United decided to go very strong as soon as possible on these two signings, but they will continue.”

“Something in the midfield is expected [next]. The top target, the dream target, remains, Manuel Ugarte, who is considered perfect internally. But here the main issue is the price.”

United have struggled at centre midfield during Erik ten Hag’s reign, often being dominated in the middle of the park and too open on the transitions.

Casemiro was expected to solve the problem when he arrived from Real Madrid for €70 million in 2022 but after a decent first season he was a big disappointment last term.

The 32-year-old is transfer listed this summer, with United hoping to replace him with a top quality centre midfielder.

The likes of Frenkie de Jong and Adrien Rabiot have also been linked with a move.
