Chelsea’s summer spending spree could well continue in the final days of the transfer window, with Manchester United of the belief that the Stamford Bridge side are ready to make a move for one of their unwanted stars.

Jadon Sancho represents an interesting opportunity on the transfer market, and according to The Athletic, Man Utd “sense” that their Premier League rivals are lining up a bid for the England international winger.

Sancho has been surplus to requirements so far this season at Old Trafford, with Erik ten Hag not selecting the 24-year-old for either of the Red Devils’ competitive matches.

With the Dutchman claiming that it will be all about “survival of the fittest” at Man Utd this season, speculation has been fuelled that Sancho will depart the club before the end of the window.

Although Borussia Dortmund and PSG both investigated a move for the former Manchester City youth earlier in the window, their interest has calmed. Instead, Chelsea have emerged as a surprising suitor for the attacker.

The Athletic confirms: “Sancho is a live situation, with United asking for £40million. But finding a club to meet his wages is an issue. PSG have been consistently linked but Sancho has not been part of their plans so far this summer. Some at United sense Chelsea may make an approach.”

Sancho has €100m potential

Sancho represents such an interesting prospect because his ceiling is clearly higher than anything he has achieved at Man Utd. His highest ETV is €108.7m, which is an elite standard that would put him as the ninth most valuable player in the world currently.

For a club willing to take a risk, Sancho is a gamble worth taking, yet with Chelsea’s already bloated squad, it is hard to see them adding another wide player to their ranks.

The Blues are, meanwhile, closing in on a deal for Joao Felix and are not ruling out a move for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen in the final days of the transfer window either.
