This fee becomes the biggest sale in the history of Man City, surpassing €56.2m recouped in 2022 for Raheem Sterling when he moved to Chelsea.
Ferran Torres was another big sale, moving to Barcelona for €55m in 2022. Gabriel Jesus departed for Arsenal in the same year for €52.5m.
Sterling, Torres and Jesus have all failed to live up to their price tags so far.

Alvarez demanded to leave Man City due to being unhappy about his lack of minutes, particularly in big games, and he was granted his wish to move to Spain.
In making the move to Atletico, Alvarez has inadvertently caused a transfer domino, involving Conor Gallagher and potentially Joao Felix after a Chelsea move for Samu Omorodion collapsed.
Alvarez at Man City
Alvarez joined Man CIty from River Plate in 2022 for €17m as one of the most wanted players in South America.
However, despite being an important player in the squad, he was mainly been a substitute or rotation player at the club, with Erling Haaland the first-choice striker under Pep Guardiola.
He still managed a respectable 36 goals in all competitions for City despite his lack of minutes, winning the treble in his first season and six trophies in total.
Alvarez also played a key role in Argentina’s 2022 World Cup triumph as he scored three times on their way to victory in Qatar.
