Liverpool open talks to sign Federico Chiesa - Fabrizio Romano
Liverpool have made an 'initial approach' for Federico Chiesa, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Reds appear to have at long last firmed up their years-long interest in the Italian. Liverpool have been linked with Chiesa seemingly every summer for the past three years, but they could now finally land him.
At least that is according to Fabrizio Romano. The Italian transfer expert reports that Arne Slot's side is exploring a deal for the Juventus outcast, with an initial approach having already been made.

Chiesa is said to be keen on moving to the Premier League, but talks appear to still be at a very early stage. The European champion is available on the market after being told that he is surplus to requirements by new Juventus boss Thiago Motta.
Chiesa to Tottenham Barcelona Liverpool?
As a result of Motta's stance on the winger, speculation surrounding his future has been rampant all summer. The likes of Arsenal and Tottenham are all admirers of him but have so far refrained from making a concrete move.
More recently, Barcelona emerged as determined suitors. In fact, it has been reported that the Blaugrana already have an agreement on personal terms with the 26-year-old, while earlier on Monday, it was also claimed that a deal between Juventus and the Catalans had been struck.

It appears that those reports were premature, however. With Liverpool in the frame, it will be difficult for Barcelona to compete for his signature. The Reds have money to spend after missing out on Martin Zubimendi whereas Barcelona very much do not.
Moreover, FootballTransfers previously revealed that Juventus are hoping for a bidding war to break out. At the time, nobody had cast the first stone to unblock the situation. This could now change, it seems.
