Liverpool ‘will do everything’ to land top target – Fabrizio Romano
Fabrizio Romano says that Liverpool are prepared to do anything in their power to attract Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
Arne Slot’s side have made the 25-year-old Spain international star their leading target for the summer transfer window.
The Reds have yet to complete a signing this summer, and Zubimendi is their new obsession. It is a deal they desperately want to complete in order to add quality to the midfield.

Real Sociedad, though, are set to put up a fight. Zubimendi has spent his whole career at the club, and interest from the likes of Barcelona and Arsenal has been fought off in the past.
The player’s release clause – estimated at €60 million - makes him vulnerable to leaving and leaves La Real powerless.

Liverpool obsessed with Zubimendi
Romano has outlined the current situation, stressing how much Liverpool want to land the Euro 2024 winner.
The football transfer news reporter told his YouTube channel: “Martin Zubimendi will be an important story in the coming days. He was on the pitch for Real Sociedad on Friday but Liverpool are still working on this deal. New contacts are expected. It’s on the player.
“Real Sociedad understand that Liverpool are pushing and will agree a deal with them if they want to, otherwise, the Reds will pay the release clause. They’re willing to do everything to sign Martin Zubimendi.
“Real Sociedad are offering a new deal and hoping he decides to stay at the club but Liverpool are still there. Arne Slot is also involved in this process.”
Although Zubimendi only has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €38.6m, Liverpool are willing to trigger his €60m release clause to get a deal down.
However, the Reds are set for talks with Real Sociedad in order to try to lower that figure, or at least get more favourable payment terms on the deal.
Ultimately, they are in a position to speak to Zubimendi about coming to Anfield, increasing the possibility of a deal being done.
