The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the PSG star for the past few months, but there is hope that an agreement will be reached soon.

As things stand, PSG’s asking price of €60 million has been seen as too steep by Man Utd, however Erik ten Hag’s side are now pushing ahead to sign him and there is belief that an agreement will be finalised.

That is according to Manchester World, who have reported that Ugarte is expected to leave the Ligue 1 giants following the summer arrival of Joao Neves from Benfica.

The Uruguay international was left out of PSG’s matchday squad to face Le Havre on Friday amid rumours of an Old Trafford switch and Man Utd are confident that a deal will happen.

Ugarte made 37 appearances in all competitions during his debut campaign at PSG, but he wasn’t included in the starting XI in any of their Champions League knockout matches.

As exclusively reported by The Transfers Podcast, Sander Berge is also being looked at by Man Utd as an alternative to Ugarte, but FootballTransfers understands that the Uruguayan remains Man Utd’s priority midfield target.

Scott McTominay to Fulham?

Ugarte’s potential arrival will likely see at least one central midfielder sold by the Red Devils, with Scott McTominay the obvious candidate.

Fulham are willing to match Man Utd’s €35m asking price for the Scotland star and a deal could be agreed within the next few days.

McTominay appeared off the bench against Fulham on Friday night, but he could be set to join Marco Silva’s side this week, with the west London club in the hunt for a new midfielder following Joao Palhinha’s move to Bayern Munich.
