Manchester United are set to announce the signings of Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui on Monday, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Erik ten Hag’s side have already purchased Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro so far this summer, but they are on the verge of confirming the arrivals of De Ligt and Mazraoui for a combined initial fee of €60 million.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is set to join West Ham United in order to facilitate Man Utd’s move for Mazraoui, while De Ligt has been targeted following Yoro’s pre-season injury and the failure to land Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.

Both Bayern players will be unveiled by Man Utd very shortly, as per Romano. The transfer expert posted on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Manchester United are planning for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui day on Monday!

“Bayern have already approved €45m plus €5m fee for de Ligt, €15m plus €5m for Mazraoui.

“Five year deals plus option for both players. Medical tests booked, formal steps to follow.”

Where will De Ligt and Mazraoui fit in at Man Utd?

Man Utd’s backline will be vastly improved by the additions of both De Ligt and Mazraoui, although it remains to be seen if they will become guaranteed starters at Old Trafford.

They both know Ten Hag from their time together at Ajax, but both will face significant competition for a starting berth at Man Utd.

Diogo Dalot was one of the Red Devils’ standout players last season and could continue at right-back, while Yoro, Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez will aim to keep De Ligt out of the starting XI.

However, the likelihood is that the Dutchman will become an immediate starter upon his move from Bayern.
