Man Utd to BATTLE Arsenal for the 'next Odegaard'
Manchester United are set to rival Arsenal for the signature of one of Norway's brightest young prospects; midfielder Sverre Nypan.
The 17 year-old Nypan plays for Rosenborg in his native Norway and is one of the brightest prospects to emerge from the European nation since the likes of Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland.
Though it is to the former with which Nypan is compared. With his silky smooth touches, hypnotic ball-carrying and lively play between the lines, not to mention a silky left-foot (though he is more than capable with his right), you can see why Nypan would be compared to Odegaard.

As he is under 18 a transfer would not be possible now, but Christopher Michel of fussball.news reports that Arsenal are interested in bringing Nypan to North London in January 2025 so he can learn from Odegaard.
However, Michel also reports that Man Utd are very aware of the young playmaker. And although they haven't formalised their interest, it's notable that Nypan himself is a massive Manchester United fan.
"It would obviously be a dream come true to play for Manchester United," he said on the United Norway Podcast. "I’m aware United has shown some interest."
Nypan's affection for Man Utd could give them the advantage in negotiations over the next few months as both sides battle it out to be the ones that get to bring the young wizard to the Premier League.
Sverre Nypan: a record-breaking prodigy
Despite his tender years, Nypan is a true prodigy who has already smashed a couple of notable records. He is the youngest player to ever start a league game for Rosenborg when he made his debut at just 15 years and 322 days old.

Moreover, when he scored against Bodo/Glimt last year at just 16 years and 145 days old, he became the youngest player in the history of Rosenborg to score in a league match.
Already this season, at 17 years of age, Nypan has five goals and six assists in just 19 league appearances. It's clear he's a special talent, now we have to see who can secure his signature.
