The Scotland international has been heavily linked with a summer departure and the Red Devils’ pursuit of Manuel Ugarte suggests that an exit is certainly possible.

Man Utd are reportedly open to letting McTominay leave before the summer transfer window slams shut, but the 27-year-old is desperate to remain in the Premier League, according to The Sun.

Fulham, Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion are all interested in McTominay, as per the aforementioned report, and he would like to stay in England.

The Scotland star bagged 10 goals in 43 appearances for Man Utd last season, but he started their opening Premier League match of the new season on the substitutes bench.

Man Utd have signed four players so far this summer - Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui - while Aaron Wan-Bissaka is one of nine players to leave the club.

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho is also expected to leave Old Trafford before the window shuts. The Englishman is in talks to join Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain and he was excluded from Man Utd’s matchday squad to face Marco Silva’s Fulham on Friday night.

Scott McTominay to Napoli?

The Sun’s report comes after Corriere dello Sport revealed that McTominay had agreed personal terms with Napoli.

The Serie A side are eager to sign a new central midfielder and McTominay is one of their key transfer targets, along with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Billy Gilmour.

However, Man Utd have set their asking price for McTominay at a reported €41 million, which is currently deemed too much by Napoli.
