De Ligt and Mazraoui arrive for medicals
Man Utd are hoping to wrap up the signings of Bayern Munich pair Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui before they open their Premier League campaign against Fulham on Friday.
The defensive duo have travelled to Manchester for a medical today and a deal is expected to be closed imminently with no issues.
De Ligt will join United for €45m plus €5m in add-ons, while Mazraoui’s transfer is understood to be costing the club €15m up front with €5m in bonuses.
Wan-Bissaka edges closer to United exit
Part of the reason United have been able to push ahead with the deals for De Ligt and Mazraoui is due to the progress being made in the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The 26-year-old is entering the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford and has been in talks with West Ham over a permanent move to the club.
Wan-Bissaka has now travelled to London for a medical and will sign a five-year contract, with West Ham paying United a fee in excess of €15m.
Hermoso rejected by United
Erik ten Hag is still hoping to add more reinforcements to his side before the transfer window closes at the end of the month, including a left-sided defender.
Injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, as well as new signing Leny Yoro, led United to consider a move for Mario Hermoso, who is a free agent after leaving Atletico Madrid.
However United opted against offering the 29-year-old a contract after holding talks with his representatives and the Spaniard is now in talks with a move to the Saudi Pro League.
Calvert-Lewin considered by United
United are still open to signing another striker this summer despite splashing out on the signing of Joshua Zirkzee, with Rasmus Hojlund injured until next month at least.
According to Sky Sports presenter Dharmesh Sheth, Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a player that has been discussed by United this summer, with the 27-year-old entering the final year of his contract.
However, despite the desire for a forward, United do not see the position as a priority and are unlikely to strengthen further in that area unless there are unexpected sales.
