Kieran Trippier wants to leave Newcastle United this summer, with Everton among the clubs interested in signing the England international.

Trippier has been a key player for the Magpies since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in January 2023, but he wants to leave the club and secure regular first-team football, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

The 33-year-old was an unused substitute against Southampton on Saturday - with Tino Livremanto selected at right-back and Lewis Hall playing on the opposite flank.

Meanwhile, Bruno Guimaraes has usurped Trippier in the leadership group at St James’ Park, with the Brazil international named ‘team captain’ earlier this week.

As a result, Trippier is now hoping to leave the club before the summer transfer window ends on 30 August, despite having two years left on his existing Newcastle contract.

Kieran Trippier to Everton?

According to Ornstein, Everton are among the clubs interested in signing Trippier, and they have already held initial discussions with Newcastle regarding a possible loan deal.

Toffees boss Sean Dyche worked with Trippier during their time together at Burnley and is reportedly keen on a reunion with the England international.

Ashley Young started at right-back during Everton’s 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon, but he was sent off in the 66th minutes after a foul on Seagulls winger Kaoru Mitoma.

The Merseyside outfit are now looking to sign a new right-back and Trippier is being considered as a legitimate option.

Nathan Patterson and Seamus Coleman are both still at Goodison Park, but neither were included in the matchday squad to face Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton.

Trippier has made 92 appearances for Newcastle since joining the club in 2022, scoring four goals and providing 21 assists. His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €9.4 million.
