Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed which area of the field Spurs’ transfer focus will be on before the end of the summer window.

Spurs have already moved for two 18-year-old central midfielders this summer, splashing out €41 million on Archie Gray from Leeds and €10m to pinch Djurgarden prodigy Lucas Bergvall from under the noses of Barcelona.

Tottenham, though, have yet to replace Harry Kane, who left for Bayern Munich in a €95m deal last summer.

Postecoglou says that he does not want another season without a centre-forward.

Speaking to football.london, the Spurs boss said: "At Celtic, I had Kyogo Furuhashi, who was a sort of out and out number nine and in Japan, I've always had a striker.

"It just depends, like last year we had to be a bit creative, it's fair to say. You know but if Harry Kane would have stayed I definitely would have used him!

"So I think for us what's more important is the type of striker we get. You know we play a certain way. We demand certain things from a physical perspective from the technical aspects of it that it's going be a striker that fits that mould.

"It's still the area of the park we're really probably the thinnest when I talk about squad-wise at the moment, so obviously that's a focus for us."

Solanke the answer to Spurs problem?

Dominic Solanke is a player heavily linked with a move to Spurs, but The Times indicates that Bournemouth do not want to sell and that Postecoglou’s side are unlikely to match the player’s €76m (£65m) release fee.

TeamTalk, though, suggests that the Cherries could offer a discount of €6m to Tottenham, which could be enough to drive the deal.

Solanke has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €38.5m, which suggests Tottenham will struggle to get real value in a deal for the 26-year-old, who is under contract at Bournemouth until 2027.
