Arsenal have re-entered the race to sign Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, according to reports in Italy.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been heavily linked with a new striker for the past 12 months, but the Spaniard has insisted that he is happy with both Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.

However, Italian outlet Correire dello Sport have now revealed that Arsenal are once again pushing to sign Napoli superstar Osimhen as Transfer Deadline Day edges closer.

The Nigeria international is expected to seal a summer move away before the window shuts, however he is yet to receive a suitable offer from any interested party.

Paris Saint-Germain’s interest has cooled, despite Goncalo Ramos’ recent injury, and Osimhen sees the Saudi Pro League as a subpar destination.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have been the frontrunners for several months and a move to Stamford Bridge seems extremely plausible given Napoli’s pursuit of Blues forward Romelu Lukaku. However, the west London club are currently eyeing a loan move, which isn’t of interest to Osimhen.

As a result, Arsenal have re-emerged as contenders to sign the Nigerian, according to Correire dello Sport.

The Gunners have only added Riccardo Calafiori and David Raya on permanent deals so far this summer, but they could reportedly launch a serious pursuit of Osimhen during the final week of August.

Chelsea won’t sign Victor Osimhen on a permanent deal

Chelsea are pursuing a new centre forward this summer, however a move for Osimhen remains difficult, according to Kaveh Solkekol.

Taking to X, the Sky Sports reporter recently confirmed: “Chelsea will try to sign a new striker during this window after they complete a deal for Joao Felix.

“Victor Osimhen has been a target all summer but at the moment Chelsea would not sign him on a permanent deal.”

Osimhen scored 15 goals in 25 Serie A appearances last season, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €71.1 million.
