Victor Osimhen is set to get offers thrown at him right, left and centre in the final week of the transfer window, with interest from Chelsea, Arsenal and PSG.

The Napoli striker faces a big moment in his career, with a stay in Serie A seemingly impossible.

Antonio Conte’s side, though, have been looking at solutions to the problem. Napoli have been very public about their desire to only sell at Osimhen’s release clause of €130 million, but equally, they cannot afford to keep him given he still has a contract worth around €11m per year.

In order to break the deadlock – and foil the attempts of Chelsea, Arsenal and PSG to sign the striker – Napoli are seeking to reduce their immediate outgoings on the player. According to Il Mattino (via AreaNapoli), they have asked the player to spread his wages out over a protracted period of time. This is the type of arrangement that Barcelona have struck with Frenkie de Jong.

Osimhen, who is currently training alone, is not interested.

“The response from Osimhen and his agent Roberto Calenda was categorical: the proposal was sent back to sender,” Il Mattino reports.

The striker, meanwhile, has agreed a contract with PSG worth around €12m per year but the Ligue 1 side have gone cool on the player, seeking instead Ademola Lookman.

Chelsea and Arsenal are still monitoring the situation, though the former prefer a loan move, the type of which Osimhen is not interested in. Fabrizio Romano, meanwhile, has played down the Gunners’ interest in the forward, despite Mikel Arteta claiming there could be a late “surprise” in the transfer window.

Napoli reach Lukaku agreement

Napoli have made a breakthrough in the Romelu Lukaku case, with the Chelsea striker set to be the man to replace Osimhen if and when he departs.

Fabrizio Romano indicated on Friday night that an agreement has been reached between the clubs.

He reported: “Romelu Lukaku to Napoli, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between clubs.

“Chelsea accept €30m fixed fee plus add-ons up to €15m for €45m potential package.

“Permanent transfer brokered by Ali Barat for Epic Sports.

“Lukaku will sign a three-year deal at Napoli until 2027.”
