The Gunners signed Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling on loan during the summer window without any option or obligation to buy clause attached.

The former England international has struggled to make waves at Stamford Bridge and Enzo Maresca, the Blues head coach, publicly stated that he should look to exit otherwise face the prospect of not getting any minutes this season.

Mikel Arteta spoke highly of Sterling ahead of the move, with the two having a connection from their days at Manchester City.

Sterling has joined and it remains to be seen whether the versatile forward can rejuvenate his career in North London.

Arsenal could sign Sane

But if things did not pan out well, the Gunners could look to Bayern winger Sane as a possible replacement.

Sane is entering the final year of his contract but his current club are reportedly in no rush to discuss a new deal.

Bayern's CEO Max Erbel said that the focus is to get Sane back to fitness after he underwent groin surgery.

He said to Sport Bild via Bulinews: "The most important thing for Leroy is that he gets healthy and is back on the pitch soon. That's what we're concentrating on at the moment, because Leroy can make the difference at any time with his extraordinary qualities.

"We all know that he is a factor in winning titles," he said.

Sane said in an interview on Bayern's official site: “We have deliberately left it open to give me the time, until I can say that everything feels perfect. We are on the right track. We’ll see when the time comes."
