Manchester United are set to get a late opportunity to send one of their big earners away on loan, with Casemiro the subject to transfer interest from Galatasaray.

The Super Lig club are set to make headlines with the capture of Victor Osimhen from Napoli on a one-year loan deal, and according to ESPN, it appears that the Istanbul club are also chasing a remarkable swoop for Casemiro.

Galatasaray have committed to paying Osimhen’s €11 million-per-year wage, despite having been knocked out of the Champions League by Young Boys, and they are also ready to make Man Utd an offer for the 32-year-old midfielder.

Casemiro is a player who has been earmarked for an exit from United for much of the summer. An offer from the Saudi Pro League was expected but never materialised yet with Manuel Ugarte having only arrived at the club late on Deadline Day, the former Real Madrid ace was pressed into action from the beginning against Liverpool in the Red Devils’ previous Premier League match.

Having blundered twice in that encounter as the Reds raced into a 2-0 half-time lead, he was substituted by youngster Tom Collyer at half-time and subject to much criticism after the fixture. It appears this could be his final appearance for the Old Trafford club.

Galatasaray are seeking to rush through a deal before the Turkish transfer window closes on 13 September, ESPN states.

Wage demands could block deal

One potential hitch to an agreement, however, is Casemiro’s giant wages, the size of which vary slightly between sources.

The report states: “As one of the club's best-paid players on wages of more than £300k-a-week (€356k), his salary demands would be problematic for Galatasaray and a loan agreement is likely to hinge on whether United are willing to continue covering part of his salary.”

Casemiro’s wage dwarfs that of Osimhen, with the Man Utd star paid roughly 50% more than the Napoli striker, despite being in the twilight of what has been a storied career.
